Dog Fun Fair

Hi everyone!  Brutus here, reporting from the field.
Mom is feeling a little yucky today, so it's up to me to start the week off on the right paw!

This weekend me, my mom & a few of the humans from my extended pack went to a big park where there were more dogs than I've ever seen. It was really hot (you can see I have one of my cool coats on), and mom kept throwing me into the many swimming pools (ugh!) that were scattered around the park.  She also brought lots of ice water for me to drink & made sure I went into the shade if my tongue started hanging out too far!

I saw my fellow canines doing all kinds of things, from obedience & jumping like I do, to police work, dock diving, racing, and lure coursing!  There were dogs of every shape, color, and size, and I think all of them wanted to be my friend!  Just as importantly, the dogs brought a lot of humans along too, many of whom pointed and giggled at my cute little self.

To show everyone how neat the Dog Fair was, I'm posting some of my favorite pictures!  Mom even made me include some that I'm not in *hmph*!  Anyways, here's what we saw:

There were black dogs and white dogs...

... and black & white dogs in all sizes!

Short dogs...

.... and really short, but long dogs! (Martha Basset, we thought of you!)

Tall & fancy dogs....
(she doesn't seem to mind the hat, poor thing)

... and just plain wet dogs.

There were lure-coursing dogs that ran like the wind....

(that's my aunt Maggie in these two pictures! She's a really fast greyhound!)

... and "racing" dogs that ran more like, well... ketchup out of a bottle
(wiener dog race!!)

We saw dock dogs that dove right in...

...and hot dogs that just wanted to cool their paws (I wonder if he knows Bo??)

There were dogs looking for a human to adopt them (that's an albino Doberman on the left - how cool!)....

...and dogs that had already found their forever homes!
(these three rescue greyhounds are my aunt Maggie, and my cousins Monty & Gracie)

There were big, slobbery, friendly dogs...

(She's a bullmastiff - a large girl, but we really hit it off!  How can you not like a lady with slobber & face wrinkles??)

... and smaller slobbery, friendly dogs!
(that's Calpurnia the English bulldog, I think she's hot too!)

And look who her boyfriend is - Picasso, a fine Frenchie like myself!!

Well, we saw lots more than just that, but mom says my computer time is up!  Hope you enjoyed my report from the Dog Fair.  We have some more neat pictures, including a lot of my Greyhound aunt & cousins, but they'll have to wait for tomorrow's post.  So for now, signing off, your roving Frenchie reporter -

BRUTUS

What a pawsome outing, Brutus! Loved seeing all your pics...that was one cool event.
I think Greyhounds are da bomb; must be fun to have one in the family!
Speaking of cool, I can imagine how suprised that Toller owner was that you recognized the breed...the only person who knew what I was was an obedience instructor! And we have yet to meet another Toller...sigh!
Your pal,
Sedona

Brutus you did a very good job and I am glad you are letting Mommy take it easy. These Mommies are fragile creatures that we need to take care of and love constantly. You met so many dogs, wow, that is so cool. I thought Mango was there for a minute.

How fun! Fashion, flirting, running...all my fave activities! And that first white doggie in yer bloggie looks like Puffy USED to look back in the day when he'd allow you to groom him properly. Not as white since his momma was an apricot poodle and his daddi a white maltese....but the bichon cut was the same. SHE got tired of fighting with him over the grrrrommy bidnez and said he was too old to stress out that much. Now he just a number 3 all over. One of HER BFF has a rescue greyhound....but it's a couchie tater doggie now. Retired from running she says. Love yer cool max shirty thingy. Will have to look for one for me n Puffers.

Aw, she is just a little bull mastiff (smaller than us full sized doggies), but pretty cute nevertheless.

I like those little cool down jackets. I wonder if they come in mastiff size?

Looks like you had a great time, Brutus! So, the hot dogs weren't too fast, huh? They must not have had the right incentive cause we can run pretty fast! Thanks for a great post!
