Yesterday we read a post from Benny & Lilly at Doggy Days. It was called "Roll Me, Please". I assumed it had something to do with the new ramp their mom had bought to help them up to the bed. I pictured the Frenchies rolling down the ramp like kids rolling down a hill. How wrong I was.
Turns out the Benny (the creme male Frenchie) loves to be "rolled" with a lint roller. There was a video of him in heaven, being rolled by his mom. I thought that was a little odd. But...
... it happens I had an very similar lint roller. Thought I'd try it out on Brutus. Turns out he LOVED it!! Don't know what the fascination is, but my little Brutus - who never sits still for an instant unless he is sound alseep - laid virtually motionless to be "rolled". Who knew??
Only thing I can think is that the stickiness of the roller reminds them of how it felt when thry were puppies & their real mom licked them. Only a video can do this justice, so here you go (make sure you turn up your sound to get the full effect with Brutus' snorting).
There are some transitions in this clip, but only because I didn't think everyone would want to watch 10 mintues of rolling. It goes on & on! Brutus just LOVES it!! As the video shows, he is very thankful to our distantly related brother Benny (shall we compare pedigrees?) for this new fascination.
Anyone else ever try this with their dogs??? If not, it's worth $1 for a disposable roller to give it a try!!

Cutest thing I've seen all day. I love his little happy snorts. :)
P.S. Brutus I loved watching you run - I hope mom got the e-mail I sent back to her!
Brutus,
You have truly reached new levels in the entertainment biz. Your Rolling video is primo - takes the cake! Next time you come and visit can you bring your roller with you? I'm dying to try it out!
Love & Puppy Kisses,
Sadie Lou
Oak and Swish's Mom here and I have to say I was amazed when I saw Benny's video and this video amazes me as well. I try to 'roll' my boys all the time especially Oakley because he leaves white fur all over my black couch but they are afraid of the roller. Maybe it's a Frenchie thing? In any case adorable and amazing!
Hello Brutus, This is Frankie's mom. Waaay back years ago I got a Wooden Back massager for a Christmas gift. It sort of looked like a suitcase handle with 4 wooden "Wheels". One day I rolled it down Pretzel's (our second Dachshund) back. From the first instant she was HOOKED. No human EVER got "rollied" from that moment on. She just wouldn't share a moment of that thing. I would imagine that the lint roller would have the same feel. When Pretzel passed away it was one of 3 things that went into her grave with her. It had given her hours and hours of joy for many many years.
I have heard several times that using lint rollers helps to keep fleas off dogs who can not use powders, collars, or pills for that purpose. I love your blog as much as Frankie does, even though we aren't football fans. LOL
GO TRIBE !!
Brutus,
You really look happy.
Sally Ann
wow! I am gonna have to try that with the girls
Im going to try this, but I'm pretty sure Shadow will eat the roller... we'll see!
Aha, I love it! I was just thinking, "When I get a Frenchie, I'll definitely have to get a lint roller too!"
Hey Brutus,
That looks pretty calming, not sure how I would like it or not, but mom may give it a try. I like to be rubbed with her feet, so kinda the same. I wil let you know after mom gets a roller

I think I gotta ask my Momma to get me one of those!!!
Sonic
Brutus, you make that look pretty good and like its fun. I love hearing you talk to your Momma.
licks and sniffs, Sasha
Mom has never tried that on us, but she might have to now. Java likes to be vacuumed, but we Scotties hate that thing. Mom always gives lint brushes when she sends a puppy home with their pawrents because puppy fuzz gets everywhere (especially if it's a Wheaten)
XOXO

That is so funny. Now Mom's threatening to get out a roller on me, too.. But I really accept anything, so it might not be too surprising if I think it's okay.
But seriously, Brutus - she rolled that thing in your FACE???
snorts,
B
I think you frenchie dogs are setting a bad example. I hope I don't get rolled.

Mango
Hi Brutus,
You sure made that look like fun. Our mom has a roller like that but she only uses it on herself to get our fur off her shirt. Maybe now she will roll us too! BOL
Waggles,
Bijou
So funny, and totally cute! I will have to try this on Dob :)

Wow, he really loves that. Mom says maybe she needs to try it on herself - silly lady. We don't think it would work much on us thick coated pups, but hey, we are willing to give it a try.
Woos, the OP Pack
Holy mollie!!! I love Brutus' little sounds, he is in heaven! I've never tried this trick.... might need to find a travel size roller to test on Captain!
xo martine & the kiddlets
Hey Brutus buddy...see I told ya. I love that darn roller. The second I see it I jump to moms shoulder and but her legs with my head. I love it...silly humans...all it is...is a FREE massage!!!
Benny (& Lily)
Who wudda thunk it?! Loved your vid, Brutus, especially the sound effects :-)
I try to bite the brush whenever my human grooms me!
Your pal,

He's so cute when he snorts!!
