I couldn't help it. It's the Ides of March you know....
On March 15 (the Ides of March), 44 BC, Caesar was attacked by a group of senators, including Marcus Junius Brutus, Caesar's close friend. Caesar initially resisted his attackers, but when he saw Brutus, he supposedly spoke the words "Et tu, Brute?", and resigned himself to his fate. The eternal Latin phrase "Et tu Brute" is interpreted to mean "And you, Brutus?" or alternatively "You too, Brutus."
Sure, Brutus was really named after the Ohio State mascot, not the murderous Roman. Sure, I was fresh out of laurel wreaths and had to make do with some artificial ivy for his headpiece.... But I just couldn't resist.
It wasn't me!! I'm not Roman, I'm French!!
It was that guy over there....
Really, does this look like the face of an assassin???
Happy Ides of March!!! Hope you enjoyed a little history lesson, and a lot of silliness on my part :)

Brutus you look so cute! I love your pictures - thank you for letting your mom dress you up and take pictures - they are great!
Ah yes, beware the ides of March! I always remember the history of this day because it's my mom's birthday! Brutus, you make a great Roman!
Brutus, you must be a very patient little guy to let your mom dress you up like that! Was she giggling during the photography session? And are your pictures displayed at her dental office or was that a stupid question?
My coonhound, Daisy, was a victim of dress-up yesterday. Please take a look on my blog & tell me if she looks good in my hat!
That is too funny, sorry, pal, but I snorted out a big goober on that one. Better you than me.

Fabulous Post... very creative. LOVE IT!!!
Oh Brutus, doesn't everyone know you're not an assassin? You're a thief... that's right. For stealing my heart!
I'm enjoying having Flat Brutus around. We haven't been able to take him outside as much as we'd like because it's been super windy and I'm afraid he'd blow away. Then I'd be really heartbroken.
I wish you were here in person though.
Love,
Stella
Oh Brutus..what is mom doing to you over there? BOL..BOL...You do look so dashing..BOL
Benny & Lily
You make a very good Brutus. You are very cute.
Sally Ann
Brutus, you would be the best assassin cos you're so cute that nobody would ever suspect you. You could be plunging your claws into some Roman emperor guy and he'll be like "Vos es cute, Brutus."
Sonic
Brutus, I know you didn't do it. Your very cute in your toga!
xxoo
Deborah
Quite some toga you got there, Brutus!! Thanks for the history lesson (I just hope there won't be a quiz!). :)
Mom's brother (my Uncle) was born on the Ides of March, so there has been much 'et tu Brute' over the years (including some Monty Python sketches, but that's just proof that Mom's entire family is made of up nerds...), and she LOVES your toga! great way to celebrate the day! :-)
*kissey face*

Brutus looks, um, less than thrilled with the outfit, BOL!
Since you know your history you-too-Brutus, let me let you in on some useless trivia. My M is born the day Kennedy was assassinated and her daughter, my sis, on the day Caesar was! Femmes fatales...
Twinkie
A+ in History and English for you Brutus! You do rock that toga, too.

Pssst...Brutus...tell your mom that greenery is for eating, not for wearing. Although I do admits, you look very handsome. Happy Day After the Ides of March!

Yond Frenchie has a lean and hungry look; he thinks too much: such dogs are dangerous.
I think the IVY is great...found this about IVY and it is soooo true! Just perfect for Brutus to wear!!!
The ivy gets its symbolism of connections and friendships because of its propensity to interweave in growth. Ever furrowing and intertwining, the ivy is an example of the twists and turns our friendships take – but also a testimony to the long-lasting connections and bonds we form with our friends that last over the years.
Another tribute to friendship as well as the test of time is the ivy’s ability to grow in challenging environments. The ivy is incredibly durable and can withstand harsh conditions. This is symbolic of our ability to stick by our friends no matter what.
Brutus is the bestest friend to every bloggie, he deserves to wear it with pride!
sniffies,
Bonnie
Ha Ha - very cute and very clever - you did well with your improvising.
Woos - Phantom, Thunder, and Ciara
