The back yard has seen a lot of action. Our exotic midwest "wildlife" has returned:
Grey Squirrels
American Robins
And one of my favorites, the Spring Peepers. These teeny little froggies start peeping (they are aptly named) at dusk every night. Their song is one of my all-time favorite sounds (right up there with Brutus' snorting, or rustling palm fronds in Hawaii). Thanks to the magic of the iphone, here are a few seconds of peeping from nearby my house for you all to enjoy:
The warm temperatures have also brought some more "domestic" visitors out of hibernation. I just had to get my favorite lawn ornament out, Gus the golfing toad.
Hey - it's Gus! Where ya been buddy?
And golfballs are already finding their way into my yard (often followed by the golfer who launched them).
Out in the front yard, the flowers are growing by leaps and bounds. Crocuses, daffodils, and tulips all up, some starting to bloom! All of them must look like salad to Brutus.
All these blooms, and they just go to waste. Why just smell 'em and not eat 'em? Silly humans, I just don't get them....
Just one little nibble. Come on, mom.... Pleeease?
Fine. Then no more posing.
Nope, not looking.
And finally, one of the most anticipated awakenings: Big Earl is out of storage and has rumbled to life!
He has a tune-up appointment next week, but then will be ready to hit the road for a summer full of adventure. They boys just can't wait! We can't let Flat Brutus have ALL the traveling fun, after all!
Let's go! What are we waiting for? There's a whole country out there to explore!!

We have no sign of spring at all, as we do not have spring. All we have now is sign of rain. oh man ! There goes our walkies !
If you wait till there are more flowers, I bet mom wouldn't notice if you ate one!!
I think we might have those little peeper frogs, too. Every so often when I'm driving home on the road that cuts through the woods, I hear that PEEP PEEP sound. It's way too loud for it to be coming from bugs, so I always thought it was frogs.
I can't wait to hear about your summer Earlventure. Marge says that Brutus should swing by this way to see her.

So where is Big Earl going to take you this year, Brutus? As long as Flat Brutus is off traveling, you may as well hit the road too.
Great signs of spring everywhere here too - we see lots of fat robins, and some flowers popping up, and lots of mud:(
Woos - Phantom, Thunder, and Ciara
Brutus, you sound like you have lots of plans now that Spring is here! Me too!
Bunny
Brutus! I can't help but get all excited to see Big Earl. That means you're coming to California, right??! Mabye your mom could drop you off and let you live here with me? Or I could go with you, I don't take up too much room.
Love,
Stella
Hi Brutus,
I had no idea you had such a lovely yard! You are a lucky boy to be able to travel in Big Earl! I can't wait to see pictures of your favorite destinations!
We heard those peepers last night for the first time this year.
