When your mom is a dentist, you gotta brush! Thanks to some suggestions in our puppy obedience class, I started brushing Brutus' teeth very early on. When he sees the tube of toothpaste and brush come out, Brutus can barely contain himself - it's one of his favorite things to do. Sure, the poultry-flavored toothpaste helps, and he chews on the brush more than anything else. I'm just glad he enjoys it, hopefully will keep us from needing to go through the risk of anesthesia for a cleaning at the vet. Brutus is the only dog I have who doesn't make you want to keel over if he breathes on you, and I intend to keep it that way (sorry Duncan & Mason, at least I learn from my mistakes...)!
I do most of the brushing myself - but as pictured below, I always allow a little supervised chewing at the end to reward Brutus for his good behavior :)
If I only had thumbs I'd be better at this...

Sugar likes to get her teeth brushed too... I was shocked, just shocked! She likes to stand up while I'm doing it. I use one of those plastic brushes you fit over your finger... I was shocked because she will be two in September and we are unsure if her previous owners brushed her...

We get our teeth brushed too - Sweetie doesnt like it much - MJ is learning but is still a puppy and has not patience for anything

what a good boy you are!! our mom tried to brush our teeth before, then started using a spray in our mouths-- yuck!! she says shes glad you reminded her of the importance of tooth brushing though..... uhoh, I hope that doesnt mean the torture will ensue once more!?! *hides*
