New Awards Posted - Better late than never!!

Once again we are all too slow to post some awards we've gotten recently!  We dusted off the ones from the last weeks to post, and added a new one we just picked up this weekend.  Sorry that it took us a little longer than what is probably polite, so please excuse the delay (it's just been a bit crazy around here lately).  Without further ado, here are three new awards that we will now can now proudly display on our blog.

First of all, we recieved the One Lovely Blog Award from Sasha.  She gave it to us last weekend to help cheer us all up after all our sadness of loosing one of our pack, the sweet & thoughtful (yet sassy!) girl that she is.  We happily post this award in honor of Duncan:

Next, Martine gave us the Awesome Pawsome award.  This award originated at Daisy's blog, and was made by the Purple Hatter.  Martine is the proud new momma of Captain & Candy. We are so happy for her, as she is one of our favorite followers & blogs to visit.  Thanks for making sure we know that our blog is Pawsome!!

We must really deserve this third award, since we got it from both Benny & Lily (two uber-cool Frenchies over at Doggy Days), as well as from our new furiend Bajas the CyberPug (he lives all the way over in Norway!).
This award comes with some posting instructions, and we are happy to play along! Here are the rules:
When accepting this award, you must blog about the food you have stolen when your humans were not watching. If you have never stolen any food, you must have been a really good pup! You can accept this yummy tray of cookies as your reward!

We are making this award "our own" (as they say on American Idol) so that it is more fun to play. I need to modify the rules a little more to make it fun, as Brutus has truly never stolen food (honest)!

First of all, he's too short to get anywhere near the table (even the coffee table). Second, we are VERY careful not to give him "people food" due to the fact that Frenchies have notoriously sensitive tummies & pancreases (is there really a plural form of pancreas? ). He eats special food ("premium" kibble based on a raw-diet) and has to take some medicine to keep his system from being too acidic.  For training treats he does get special treats of beef, pork, chicken or turkey - so don't feel too sorry for The Brute!!

So although Brutus hasn't stolen food per se, he has eaten his share of contra-ban, non-foodable items.  If there is something on the floor, he eats it.  If he can't figure out what else to do with something, he eats it.  If he finds something that smells intruiging, he eats it. Bugs - consider them eaten (dead or alive).  So now with our own unique twist on things, here are the

Top Ten Most Interesting Things that Brutus has Eaten ...
... or earnestly tried to eat ...
... that we know of ....

10.  Mulch
9.  Ants
8.  Clover flowers
7.  Acorns
6.  A Japanese Beetle (very crunchy & disgusting)
5.  The cord to my laptop (the white plastic that
Apple uses must be very tasty).
4.  Wicker baskets/planters (a real favorite)
3.  Plastic eyes off his toys (there are several blind
      stuffies in the infirmary currently)
2.  Any important piece of paper that ends up on the
floor (unimportant scraps are of no interest)
And the number one thing Brutus has eaten... (drum roll, please)

Brutus has managed to actually consume a pair of my underwear.  My husband thinks it's really awful that I'm sharing this, but I know you dog people will understand!  It isn't actually so much about what he ate, but the fact that he swallowed them whole!!  We weren't really sure if he had eaten them initially, as his plumbing all kept working normally - so we thought it was a false alarm.  We didn't know for sure until 5 DAYS later, as they "re-emerged" totally in tact (albeit it rolled up into a hotdog shape, and very slimy) when his stomach finally reversed gears!  I have to hand it to Victoria's Secret for making something so durable that it could survive stomach acid so superbly (don't worry  - I threw them away!!!). Thankfully Brutus' system was strong enough to remedy the situation on its own, or else it would have been a risky (not to mention expensive) surgery to retrieve the underwear from his tummy - lest it cause a blockage.  At least I learned my lesson (because I don't think Brutus learned his...), and now have a laundry hamper with a lid!!!

One last thing: Brutus requested that I include mention that his big brother Mason is well-deserving of the award as well.  He is a true "land shark" and is adept at counter-surfing. Mason has pretty good manners, but every once in a while the temptation is just too great. He has managed to steal an entire sandwich directly out of my hand once, and did the same from a plate on the coffee table.  In both instances we were laughing too hard to even scold him, no real harm done!!

So there you have it - truly "Oops I Ate It" worthy stories!!  Thanks again to all our friends who thought of us and bestowed these fun awards.  Many of our furiends have already gotten these awards, so we aren't tagging anyone specifically.  Please feel free to take any of them if you think they are appropriate or you just need a pick-me-up for your blog.  We are going to announce our own little original contest soon, just waiting for a few more devoted followers (hint, hint).

Have a great day everyone - hope we made you smile :)

Brutus, Congratulations on your well deserved awards. I always love getting and giving them, because it makes me feel loved and then I can pass the love onto my friends. I am sorry that you have a touchy tummy, but you have eaten some very interesting things. The undie story is just short of amazing. I have read of big doggies doing this, but not a little Frenchie. I am glad it came out ok(so to speak) and I hope you don't do that again. You don't want to test fate like that please. I like to sniff undies, but so far haven't attempted to eat them

Yikes! That reminds me of the time Tucker as a puppy swallowed one of my wife's nylons! We didn't know about it until he was in the living room, got this look on his face, and yakked the nylon out onto the carpet. Good thing!

I am impressed! WOW! I thought the time an entire sock emerged from my hiney was impressive, but you are just a little guy and you ate those panties?

All I can say is it must have been a size 4 thong. If it was one of HER (relentlessly huge) undies, you'd still be swallowing it while it came out the other end!!!!

toodles,
Bonnie

pee sssss....yer photo looks very handsome today. You just don't look like the kinda guy that would steal a ladies undies. And then do un-mentionable things to them.

Congratulations on all your Awards, you certainly deserve them. We laughed at your tag - you are way too funny - eating underwear is very unusual.

Congrats on the awards! They are completely well-deserved. Very interesting things that you have eaten. Our list of non-food items is probably pretty interesting too! And tell your Mom that we like underwear too! So, you are not alone Brutus. We can't wait to hear what you are cooking up!

Oh Brutus, your list made me BOL, esp. the underwear story! I hope you learned your lesson that clothing is best left where you found it and not in your tummy ;-)
Congrats on your awards & look forward to your contest!

Congrats on the awards Brutus. I am glad to hear we are not the only doggies that have not stolen hooman food. But I can't imagine why you would want to eat all those other uneatable things. And PLEASE, leave the undies alone! It is a wonder you did not end up at the vet!

Wags & wiggles,

That was great! I'm so happy Jackal has only chewed two items in his twenty months of life. :) I'm also happy Brutus expelled the underwear before they caused any harm. What a close call.

I'd thought about doing this tag but neither of my mutts has ever stolen anything so it would be boring. I liked your spin on it though. :)

Oh and eagerly looking forward to your contest.
