Hi everyone! Time for an update on our contest. So far we have a grand total of three entires. I was originally planning on closing this Friday, but I'm hoping that we can get a few more of you to play if we give you some more time! Todays' post is of those entires we've received to date - if I have missed anyone, please send me an email (hrnchardds@yahoo.com) to let me know where to go for your post!
All the rest of our blogging buddies out there, both old and new: don't be shy!! Send us anything fun. Even if it's semi-ridiculous, but you think we might enjoy it, give us all something to smile about (hey, that might even give you an entry for Dory's contest!!). Brutus has agreed to extend the submission date to Novemeber 6th - just in case you end up doing something silly for Halloween - after all the very act of putting a costume on their dog is, by definition, ridiculous!! Just click over there ---> on the button on the sidebar to see the contest rules!
Here's our first entry, built by Robert from Corgi Country
Can you imagine the time & thought that went into building this playground for Dott's puppies?
As we’ve been showing, Dott’s Dad, Robert, built her puppies a “Puppy Playground.” He takes his GrandPaw status VERY seriously and wants to be sure that his Grandpups have as much “brain stimulation” as possible, so he made the Puppy Playground with that in mind. He started with 2 huge boxes, and added a puppy door to get them used to doggy doors. He also created a mini agility course for the babies to play in, on and through. There are steps, tunnels, ramps, mirrors, and a Teeter-Totter in one side, and the other side holds a bed under a lean-to top, a water and food bowl, a squeaky toy, large rawhide chew (for teething), and a squeaky, swinging squirrel (sort of fishing rod style).
Martine at "I Need A Sugar Fix" has some interesting things she does to feed one of her new pups, Captain:
Originally when we got the pups, I would feed Captain in the crate and Candy outside the crate. The only problem... they both refused to eat! We then got them the play pen and I started feeding them together inside the pen. This was working out fine until the vet told us Candy was chubby and we realized she was bullying Captain and stealing his food! So for the past few weeks Candy has been eating inside the play pen and Captain just outside the pen. We then began to notice little bits of dog food in the button holes of our ottoman/coffee table. So one day I watched Captain and found out how the food was getting there. He would run to his bowl grab some food and hop up on the ottoman, drop the food and eat it, sometimes leaving a little extra. This process was taking him a long time, too long in my opinion. I watched him do this a few times and decided I would indulge him a little and start feeding him on the ottoman! Now there are no food pieces left behind and Captain seems to enjoy sitting up high and eating his meals.
I do a lot for these little guys but I don’t think I really go overboard, well not much lol. If you ask my family they might disagree, they think everything I do is ridiculous. I usually don’t get much grief from people they all pretty much know how I feel about these little guys. But there is one thing I have been getting grief about lately so that is they only thing I could come up with for this post. I saw on Joe Stains blog that he has a dog sleeping bag. I thought it was the most adorable thing ever. I told one of my friends that I was looking to get one for Oakley and I immediately started getting grief. First of all because we live on the Central Coast of California (near Monterey) so it never really gets extremely cold. Although I think it does get cold enough. She argued that they have tons of blankets, which they do, and that they didn’t really have use for a sleeping bag. She also argued that I couldn't just say I was getting it for Oakley, if I was getting one for him why not Swisher? I think I could find human size sleeping bags for cheaper than doggy one’s but that didn’t deter me either.
OK, so that's the gamut. We love the entries, and hey - each has a 33% chance to win at this point! Hope that there are some more ridiculous (or even just mildly silly) things being done by our furiends, out there! Come on & join in the fun!!
Brutus says "Ya' can't win if you don't play!!"

Ooh, I'll enter. My mom person hasn't been keeping up on my blogging lately because of some annoying thing called "college"!
I will post my ridiculessness tomorrow & let you know!
Hi Brutus, I am new to your blog. I don't have any super pics of some to the things my mom and dad have done for me, BUTT I can give you a couple of examples. Last year I was in a community theater Christmas play. She not only made a Tuxedo but also a Santa Paws suit.
She takes me to my writers' group meetings and always takes cheese snacks for me.
Dad lets me borrow against my weekly alOUDance to order lots of Rodent catching machines from the Acme Co..
And he always takes me for rides on my 4-wheeler. Well, of course he does... the thing belongs to me.
And then there Is MY 22' pontoon boat. Mom packs my lunch and dad steers it to all my favorite coves so that I can explore the surrounding forest.
I don't guess they really do any silly stuff for me, now that I think of it.
I'm in. You can find my entry here.

Hi again Brutus I was just catching up on your blog. I see that your mom is a dentist. That reminded me that my mom brushes my toofs. I can't get pictures of this stuff for you beclaws... mom has all these security settings up on MY personal private YapStop computer (that Santa Paws brought me last year). The nerve of her.
So does your mom brush your toofs????
Yep, the shirt made all the difference in the world. It stopped him from shivering and he was so much happier. He must have appreciated the warmth a lot because he never tried to take it off. :)
I'm glad you wrote another post about the contest because I'd thought for a long time and just couldn't think of anything, but when you wrote it this time it was cold outside and that's what made me think of it. :D
Here you go Brutus, our entry is right here!
