The Journey

Happy Friday! Thank you to everyone for all the kind thoughts, words, and healing vibes. Brutus is feeling a little better, medicine seems to be working. He's also really enjoying having home-made meals (who ever thought boiled chicken could be so interesting) and lots of snuggle time. Hoping that he'll be back to normal tomorrow so that we can still compete in the trial we entered this weekend. One step at a time though, for now...

Since it is such a common theme in my posts, most of you have learned more than you ever knew (or maybe wanted to know) about dog agility. Likewise, I have learned not only about agility and dog training, but a little more about myself in working with Brutus these last 8 months. Here is a wonderful video that pays tribute to the relationship between handler and dog. We often joke about our dogs training us - as opposed to the other way around - but there is a truth to that. Ironically enough, our animals can teach us a lot about being human.

Whether you know anything about agility or not, please watch - there are some lovely thoughts expressed within the video. It'll take a few minutes of your time, but I promise it will put a smile on your face, as well as something to think about over the weekend until we return (hopefully with a fully restored Brutus). Enjoy!

I cried the first few times I watched this video.. it's one of my favorites, for sure, especially given the challenges of working with Marge's fears.

Hope you can still go to the trial!

I will have to come back to watch the video, it won't seem to play- that happens on my blog from time to time though and it sorts itself out.
OMD I can't believe Moose mistook you for a pug!!! Such a terrible thing to have happen, never mind while you are sick. Talk about kicking a dog when he is down! I will have a talk with him. He was probably delirious with heat and jetlagged from flying home from the fly ball tourney! I have told him when he is confused to always look at the ears... sheesh!
I will have a talk with him and remind him to think before he speaks!
Moose gets chicken and rice when I run out of kibble and goes WILD for it. At least that is one upside to being sick.
Moose's momma
p.s. has your mom given you canned pumpkin (plain not pie mix)? It can fix a lot of poo troubles. It won't fix what is causing them but could help keep you from getting too dehydrated.

Ok, the video worked this time and it is wonderful. I often wonder how I picked Moose and how he found me. I think he is my dog and that is how. He definitely rescued me as I see it and I am a totally different person in many ways since he came into my life and he is also a different dog! Anyway, thanks for sharing! I also came back to let you know that I 'updated' my post for Brutus' sake. You will probably have to bigify the pic to read it b/c it is awfully crowded! ;-)
Feel better buddy!
p.s. what on earth is a puglette? Bajas said pug on his entry so anything beyond that is beyond my 'expertise'! :-)

Glad to hear Brutus is doing better - boiled chicken is very tasty to us too.

Great video - pups surely do teach the humans a lot.

Good luck at the trial.

Hey there, wee Brute! I'm glad to hear you are starting to perk up and feel better. Don't get too well too quick, or the special din-din will stop. I got that t-shirt already!. Practice a little sad sigh and put on a mope look.

Thanks for sharing such a great video. I think Gunther would actually enjoy agility if I could get him to listen better.

Yeah, the home cookin' always gets 'em! I add cooked turkey meat and butternut squash to the smushies kibble every meal. I love seeing them so happy!

I'm so glad that Brutus is feeling better.

Hope you're all well again, Brutus! And what a sweet video.

- And I'm thinking the two of us should walk together from now on, 'cause Mom's usually told I'm a Frenchie, and if you're a pug then they might see the differences better if we're side by side. BOL!

Gosh! I sure am glad you are starting to feel better big guy! If anyone knows about getting sick it is me...I've had enough of that lately.
Thanks for the video. It made my mom cry a little but I'm not sure why. She said it just reminds her how special I am and how glad she is to have me.
