Now what have I gotten myself into? (and Football Friday)

Hey everyone - Brutus here!!  Since I've been such a good boy lately, mom is letting me do the post today. There is much excitement around my house lately, so I have several things to update you all on.

First, we have 25 great entries for my "That's Ridiculous" contest.  We'll be around to pick up the last-minute entries tomorrow morning, then will do a wrap-up post on Monday (don't worry Lorenza & Kari, we've got yours).  My dad is going to pick the winner; mom and I figure he'll need a week or so think about it - so stay tuned!

Next, I want to congratulate our friends who responded to the Paw It Forward game.  We'll be sending some goodies our to Martine (for Captain & Candy at I Need a Sugar Fix), Lucy & Tank (at The Plus Size Pug), and our new friend Deborah (who has a whole slew of dogs, cats & other assorted creatures over at Amazing Animal Lover's Blog).  Mom says I get to help pick out the gifts, so I'm begging her to take me shopping as soon as possible!!  We can't wait to Paw It Forward!

Finally, I need everybody's help....  I don't know what to do!  I think I've outdone myself. Mom was so happy with how I behaved last weekend at the Rally trial (I must say, it was fun), she filled out a bunch of forms this week.  She wouldn't let me see what she was doing, so I tried to snatch the envelopes out of the mail pile, and succeeded in grabbing this one.  Oh, boy....  In case you can't read it, it says "CPE" - that's Canine Performance Events, Inc.  They put on agility trials.  Uh-oh.....

Mom took it away before I could eat it, put a stamp on and tossed it in the mailbox. Great. To make matters worse, she came home the other day with a set of weave poles (real competition-quality ones - not looking good for the Frenchie...).  Think I'm in for a lot more training.  This sounds like an awful lot of work!

Somebody help!  Didn't anyone tell her that Frenchies are bred to be couch potatoes?? Maybe if I just hide behind this jump over here, she'll forget all about it....

Nope. Drat - apparently those darn ears gave me away again.

Well, I guess if it means that I get lots of treats, how bad can it be, right?  I did have fun being the center of attention, and it's about time that everyone realized that this Frenchie was born to be a star!!  No pawtigraphs, please....  talk to my agent (hehehe!).

Before I sign off for the weekend, I want to give a shout out to my peeps from Columbus.  The Buckeyes are going next door, over to PA to play with some kind of Lions, and I'm a bit worried.  Mom found this Big 10 cartoon, and I think that Penn State kitty is looking a little smug!

We also feel a little bad for Sasha's Bucky (the squirrely-badger thing from Wisconsin), as he seems to be stuck in the armpit of the Notre Dame leprechaun!!  At least the Michigan wolverine is down at the bottom of the pile where he belongs (he'll be glad to be there after what we have in store for him next week- HA!!).  Only two weeks of college football left...  How can it be over so soon??  We were just getting warmed up!

So have a great weekend everyone, and (as always)...

GO BUCKEYES!!!!

Okay Brutus, here is an idea for you to try... Find that grrreat Devil costume you had for Howl o ween. Dress up in it and your mom won't recognize you (since Howl o ween is over). She will be sooo confused and SCARED that she will forget all about those weaving poles. hehehe What do you think?
BUTT on the other PAW... there would be treats. Hummm decisions decisions decisions.

Well, treats are good, but couches are good. I don't really know.

You are going to be working hard for sure. Your mom is just so proud of you she wants to show you off to everybody. Nothing wrong with that. Just make sure you get plenty of good dog foodables out of the deal.

Hi Brutus! Long time no see! However, I see you have been extra busy competing for BLUE ribbons! Congrats! I bet you will have lotsa fun hanging with your Mom and practicing. Isn't that jump too tall for you? I can barely see you! I hope Ohio wins this weekend. I'm like you, I can't beleive the season is nearly gone.
Hopefully the Vols will win this weekend.
Have fun this weekend and snag some football foodies!

Brutus thanks for posting today since mom was hogging your computer. Lily and I discussed this entire matter. We decided that events = treats and attention. So why not right? You are handsome and athletic, wow what a good combo. Lily went to agility and hated it. Maybe I will give it a try. Good luck..

Brutus, I love the picture of you by you jumping things, you look really cute. Wow that looks like hard work, but I bet it is kind of fun too and as long as you get treats its ok I guess. Mom wants to know what up with that cartoon!!! Bucky does not belong in an armpit BOL BOL. You have your nose in the armpit of that lion thing, PU!

Awww Brutus my pup... don't you KNOW how this training thing works? you don't do a darn thing until they produce the goods. they gotta show you the goods. THEN once the human shows she's good for it, you can start "working" but only work for the amount of payment you will receive. work hard for tri-tip. work lazily for low fat items...
And above all, always stage a union protest and walk out occasionally to keep her on her toes! she won't know what hit her and the tri-tip will come flyin' w/o even workin! but i gotta warn you, that only works for a short time before you have to work again. something about fairness in unions and workers...

Brutus you are destined for greatness!

As for the Wolverine being on the bottom, that's because he's so tough he can take it!

Wow Brutus! You've been so busy. I'm just now getting caught up on reading everyone's entries from the past week :)

ocmist said...

I think you'll do just great and won't it be great to be the center of attention again... AND "training" ALWAYS equals "Treats!" so THAT is a good thing!

We don't have any kind of agilities classes around here, but everyone thinks that if we did, and there was someone to run with Dott, that she would have been an Agility Star too! OC
