Oh my Gourd!

Wow - is it Friday already?  Seems like some weeks just fly by!  And now Thanksgiving is less the two weeks away - what??  We've had our first good frost.  Where did fall go?

A few weeks ago I took Brutus for a little fall photoshoot at a pumpkin patch nearby while the fall colors were still vibrant.  The farm is a picturesque place in the country not far from our home.  They have all this stuff sitting out at the corner of two old state routes, with an "honor-system" payment box.  You pick out what you want (mums, straw, corn, gourds, veggies) and stuff the money into a coffee can. There's even a note that you can make change for yourself if you need to.  Isn't it Good to know that there are still some sleepy places where people are honest enough to do this!

Here's the produce stand.  It's run by a little family farm.

In those big boxes were some beautiful gourds...

... in an endless variety of colors & shapes!

I couldn't resist posting Brutus amongst the goods!

Inquisitive as always!

Next we went next door to the pumpkin "patch" (they were actually already harvested, but it's the best we could do).

Can you even see Brutus?  It's like "Where's Waldo"!!

There he is!!  His orange collar makes him blend right in!

My little pumpkin!

Brutus had been so cooperative, and there was no one else around.  I let him explore the place a little, so he can tell you about it from here:

Man, these things are everywhere....

Help - I'm surrounded!
Gotta be careful - a Frenchie could get squashed in here!!
(hehe - get it?  Squashed?)

What's the deal with these things?  Maybe they're tasty?  Hmm.. which one looks good?

*chomp*
Hmpf.  This one has no taste.

Nope, no flavor here either.

These humans are out of their gourds of they think these taste good!

I'm gourd silly, Mom...

Let's make like a tree & leave!!

I apologize for all those bad squash/gourd puns!  Didn't know Brutus had it in him. Frenchies are known for being comedians, after all...

Before we sign off for the weekend, it's time to wish the Buckeyes luck for the game Saturday.  If they can beat Iowa (who were undefeated until their loss to Northwestern last weekend), there is only our arch-rival Michigan to knock off in order to claim the Big 10 title!

Go BUCKEYES!!!  Beat the Hawkeyes!!

You looked very handsome in the middle of all those orange pumpkins Brutus! I'm impressed you didn't do what Gunther did when mom took us to the pumpkin patch... he peed on as many pumpkins he could lift his leg on.
Your girlfriend, Stella.

Brutus, you look very handsome among the pumpkins but umm...you are great at agilities, but not so much on the jokes, if you know what I mean(giggles). Good luck this weekend, we play Michigan. This is one time that we can both agree, we must beat them. We hate Michigan! We will try to beat them down and weaken them so you can come in for the kill in a couple weeks.

I see you wore the proper attire for your visit. An orange necklace. All you needed was the Wild Dingo convertible mini cooper limo (in orange) to complete your "look!" like here: http://www.wilddingo.com/2009/04/23/modeling-is-hard-work/

but i'd say you were gourd enough with orange. Orange you glad you didn't spend more time there?

you're handsome and smart as always Brutus~

Bad puns indeed. Maybe mom could come to my place. I think she and Jarrod would get along great what with his stupid jokes all the time.

I would have pee'd on those pumpkins for sure.

Your Mom is a great photographer because those are some of the cutest pictures that I've ever seen. Your orange collar looks lovely on you, especially up against all the pumpkins!

Yes, good to know there are still people who believe in the innate goodness of others!
Hope your team wins again.

Brutus,

I fear your sense of humor has gone to the dogs. That, or maybe it's the blondes that you hang out with all the time. You have to learn to ignore their giggling. They'll laugh at almost anything. They even laugh at themselves when there's nothing else to giggle over. Don't encourage them...don't get me wrong, I love our human blondes as much as the next doggie at the Funny Farm, but sheesh...do they have to be so happy all the time!?!?! Or, maybe they are just plain crazy!!!

Brutus, you look so cute sitting there amongst the pumpkins. If you can manage to get to the stuff inside the pumpkin you will find it is yummy. We get a scoop of pumpkin every night as a snack (Mom says its got fiber in it and it is good for us).

Have a great weekend!

Well now Brutus, I must say the contrast of you against the pumpkins makes them look even more beautfiul than they are. I'll never go to another pumpkin patch without thinking of you!
